How To Install An Electronic Flow Control Valve

Flow control valves are the valves that are utilized to regulate the pressure or flow of liquids or gasses. For example, in the hydraulic system, the electronic flow control valve is used to manage the actuators & other components. These valves can be operated in numerous different ways.

A few valves can be operated via external control, while some of the valves are managed by the electromechanical system. Some valves are considered the section of the hydraulic system line along with the small inside diameter compared to the rest of the hydraulic system. In this guidepost further, we will discuss how to install the electronically controlled pressure valves.

What is Flow Control

Electronic flow control valves are usually used to regulate the flow & direction of the gasses and liquids. These valves are used in the gas centrifugal compressors to avoid damage to the compression machine. Therefore, you can say that the flow valves are utilized in the fluid power system.

Automatic control of modern plants can be done through the control valves to exchange the reduction of pressure and energy. The controlling valves are the final control elements, also known as the major part of the automatic control. Another purpose of its usage is to provide the required amount of energy to the controllers.

Installation of the Flow Regulator Valve

By turning off the system pumps, the hydraulic system will be depressurized. If possible, turn off the electrical power from the system pumps. This can be done by disconnecting the power connector of the pump or pulling the system’s circuit breaker. Some mechanically driven pumps, like the engine-driven pumps, haven’t any electrical connector in their systems.

Position the new electronic flow control valve where you want to install it. First, the relative components of the flow regulator valve should be plugged, and the ends of the pipes or tubing that will be connected should have to be capped. Next, ensure that the flow valve is in its proper orientation. In case you are unsure of the direction through which the fluids should have to travel via the valve, for this, you can consult the hydraulic schematic.

Now, uncap the electronic flow control valve fitting & also unplug the connecting lines. Screw the nuts by the hydraulic lines on the fittings on the flow control valve. To the manufacturer specified torques, tighten the nuts.

Leak Check

As per requirements, check the hydraulic system’s fluid level. Now, connect the connectors and push the pump circuit breaker. Then, pressurize the system by using the hydraulic pumps. After that, check the hydraulic lines & fittings near the valve to avoid leakage.

Final Words

In this article, we have provided you with information regarding installing the electronic flow control valve in the system. In addition, we also mentioned what the purpose of using the flow valves is and what is meant by the electronic flow control valve.
